How Does this CSA Vacation Rental Insurance Trip Cancellation & Interruption plan Work?

  • Trip Cancellation coverage:
    You, a close family member or a traveling companion gets hurt or sick before you leave (and your doctor advises you against traveling). Travel Insurance reimburses you the money you lose. This is especially important if you're concerned about a pre-existing medical condition.

  • Trip Interruption coverage:
    You, a close family member or a traveling companion gets hurt or sick while you're on your trip and you have to return home early. Travel Insurance reimburses you the unused value of your trip plus pays the cost of one-way airfare up to its limit.

Our Rental Travel Insurance Plan's Price:

  • 6.5% of your total prepaid non-refundable trip cost for a rental period of up to 31 days

  • Add an additional $3 per day for rental periods of 32 - 180 days in length

Here are 2 examples:

  1. Your 2 week rental is $2500 and you're driving there. This plan's cost is $162.50 (6.5% times $2500).

  2. You all rent a condo in Destin, FL for 60 days for $4,000, but with drive time, you'll be away for 64 days. This plan's cost is $359 (6.5% times $4,000 plus $99). The $99 is 33 days times $3 per day (64 - 31 days).

The Pre-Existing Condition Exclusion is waived provided you meet all of the following requirements:

  1. the payment for this plan is received with or before the final payment for your Covered Trip; and

  2. you are not disabled from travel at the time you make your plan payment.

Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption Benefits
Pre-Departure Trip Cancellation


We will pay a Pre-Departure Trip Cancellation Benefit, up to the amount in the Schedule, if you are prevented from taking your Covered Trip due to your, your Family Member's, or Traveling Companion’s Sickness, Injury, or death that occurs before departure on your Covered Trip. The Sickness or Injury must: a) commence while your coverage is in effect under the plan; b) require the examination and treatment by a Physician, in person, at the time the Covered Trip is canceled; and c) in the written opinion of the treating Physician, be so disabling as to prevent you from taking your Covered Trip. We will pay a benefit if you are prevented from taking your Covered Trip due to Other Covered Events, as defined, that occur before departure on your Covered Trip.

OTHER COVERED EVENTS means only the following unforeseeable events or their consequences which occur while coverage is in effect under this Policy:

1. Common Carrier delays resulting from inclement weather, or mechanical breakdown of the aircraft, ship or boat or motor coach on which you are scheduled to travel, or organized labor strikes that affect public transportation;

2. arrangements canceled by an airline, cruise line, motor coach company, or tour operator, resulting from inclement weather, mechanical breakdown of the aircraft, ship or boat or motor coach on which the Insured is scheduled to travel, or organized labor strikes that affect public transportation. Items 1 and 2 above are subject to the following conditions:

a. the scheduled carrier connecting times must meet airline required legal minimum connect times; and

b. the scheduled time between arrival at the Scheduled Trip Departure City and the scheduled trip departure must be 2 hours or longer.

3. a change in plans by you, a Family Member traveling with you, or Traveling Companion resulting from one of the following events which occurs while coverage is in effect under this Policy: a. being directly involved in a documented traffic accident while en route to departure;

b. being hijacked, quarantined (except as a result of a pandemic or epidemic), required to serve on a jury, or required by a court order to appear as a witness in a legal action, provided you, a Family Member traveling with you or a Traveling Companion is not 1) A party to the legal action, or 2) Appearing as a law enforcement officer;

c. your Home made Uninhabitable by fire, flood, volcano, earthquake, hurricane or other natural disaster;

d. mandatory evacuation or public official evacuation advisements where there is no mandatory evacuation issued by local government authorities at your destination due to adverse weather or natural disaster. In order to cancel or interrupt your Covered Trip, you must have 4 days or 50% of your total Covered Trip length or less remaining on your Covered Trip at the time the mandatory evacuation ends;

e. being called into active military service to provide aid or relief in the event of a natural disaster;

f. a documented theft of passports or visas;

g. a transfer of employment of 250 miles or more;

h. a Terrorist Act which occurs in your departure city or in a city which is a scheduled destination for your Covered Trip, provided the Terrorist Act occurs within 7 days of the Scheduled Departure Date for your Covered Trip;

i. your involuntary termination of employment or layoff, which occurs more than 15 days after your effective date of coverage and was not under your control. You must have been continuously employed with the same employer for 5 years prior to the termination or layoff. This provision is not applicable to temporary employment, independent contractors or self-employed persons.

j. your or your Traveling Companion’s or traveling Family Member’s approved, written military leave involuntarily revoked as a result of being temporarily or permanently reassigned, being called to active military reserve or an extension of deployment beyond a defined tour of duty within 30 days of your departure date. All leave must be approved prior to the Policy effective date. Full or partial mobilization or mass reassignment of Armed Forces, invocation of the War Powers Act, base or unit mobilization is not covered;

k. the primary or secondary school where you or your traveling Family Member or Traveling Companion attend(s) must extend its operating session beyond its predefined school year, due to unforeseeable events commencing during the policy effective period, which cause the extension of the predefined school year and the travel dates for the Covered Trip fall within the period of the school year extension. Extensions due to extra-curricular or athletic events are not covered;

l. interruption of water, electric, sewage or gas service(s) at your destination or interruption of road service, due to adverse weather or natural disaster so as to prohibit you from reaching your destination, for more than 24 hours and only for up to 15 days from interruption of service(s) or to resumption of service(s), whichever comes first.
